Some Ideas

Thought i'd note what i'd like here and allow others to weigh in (so we agree on what we'd like):

Personally, i'd probably aim to use the glass door for people coming to events downstairs, and the wooden door for people going upstairs. Might it be worth boxing in the staircase so that hammering / drilling downstairs doesnt distract others? Essentially what i'd eventually like to do is have a setup where the shutters are open weekday evenings and weekends, with people able to come and go using the RFID system to unlock the door, but i dont know how well this meshes with madlab's aims.

Storage

  • Strong Shelves for the Recycling Area (aka junk heap). If we shelved the entire wall where the junk heap is ATM with shelves about 50cm high, that'd give us loads of space.
  • Cupboards / shelves for our stuff (we have 2 of the grey ones currently, one for people's personal stuff, the other for group stuff)

Work Areas

  • Clean area for soldering / electronics: maybe with wall-mounted computers with the metal keyboards attached.
  • Dirty Area for sawing / welding / filing / hammering / killing printers: need this to be easy to clean, get a shop vac?

Kitchen

  • Add a cooker / fridge / microwave / worktop for food prep (i have a little half-oven if needed)

Comfy Area

  • Sofas, soft chairs and the TV, space for games consoles / dvd player, i see it as being used for relaxing and/or software development. Maybe display cabinets for robots / flashy leds / other awesome things

Power

  • Run more plug sockets to every wall-area.

Possible Layout

This is a possible layout I (TBSliver) just threw together from parag0n's ideas.
